DigitalBridge Group, Inc. (NYSE: DBRG) and La Caisse (formerly CDPQ) have successfully completed the acquisition of Yondr Group, a leading global developer, owner, and operator of hyperscale data centers, from Cathexis Holdings, L.P. This strategic move is set to significantly accelerate Yondr’s global expansion to meet increasing demand for hyperscale and AI-focused data center infrastructure.

As part of this acquisition, Aaron Wangenheim has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer and Sandip Mahajan as Chief Financial Officer, both assuming their roles immediately.

Yondr specializes in designing and operating large-scale data centers tailored to the needs of major global technology firms. The company currently has over 420MW of committed capacity and additional land to scale up to more than 1GW, making it ideally positioned to support growing needs in AI, digital transformation, and cloud technologies.

“We’re thrilled to finalize our acquisition of Yondr alongside La Caisse,” said Jon Mauck, Senior Managing Director and Head of Data Centers at DigitalBridge. “Yondr strengthens our global data center portfolio and supports our mission of enabling hyperscale, technology, and AI companies. With Aaron and Sandip at the helm, we’re confident in Yondr’s next growth chapter.”

Emmanuel Jaclot, Executive Vice-President and Head of Infrastructure at La Caisse, added, “Our investment in Yondr reflects our belief in the long-term value of digital infrastructure. With DigitalBridge, we are excited to support Yondr's continued innovation and rapid development of AI-ready data solutions.”

DigitalBridge and La Caisse have a strong history of collaboration. In 2019, La Caisse acquired a 30% stake in Vertical Bridge, a DigitalBridge portfolio company and the largest private owner of communications infrastructure in the U.S. Their partnership deepened in 2024 through a $3.3 billion tower transaction with Verizon, further cementing their influence in the digital infrastructure space.

William Harrison, CEO of Cathexis, expressed his support: “I’m proud to have supported Yondr’s journey since 2018. With DigitalBridge and La Caisse stepping in, the company is well-equipped to scale even further and remain a key infrastructure provider to the world’s top tech firms.”

Leadership Transitions

As Yondr’s new CEO, Aaron Wangenheim brings more than 20 years of experience in data center leadership, previously serving as COO at T5 Data Centers and advising investors on custom data center solutions. In his new role, he will lead Yondr’s global growth initiatives and help deliver large-scale infrastructure for hyperscalers.

Incoming CFO Sandip Mahajan brings over 30 years of experience in financial leadership and infrastructure investment, having held senior roles at Mitie Group PLC and Balfour Beatty PLC. His expertise spans leveraged finance, capital raising, and financial transformation.

Wangenheim succeeds Paul Cossell, who retires after two and a half years as CEO and nearly three decades in the infrastructure industry. Mahajan takes over from Chester Reid, who is stepping down after over two years as CFO to pursue other interests.

“I’m honored to lead Yondr during this transformative time,” said Wangenheim. “With strong backing from DigitalBridge and La Caisse, we are well-positioned to deliver mission-critical infrastructure for AI and cloud clients around the world.”
