Driving Growth in Automotive, Industrial, and Communications Infrastructure Markets
MIPS, a GlobalFoundries company, announced that Alan Li has been named head of Business Development for China. In this role, Alan will lead regional business expansion, leveraging his extensive experience in automotive, industrial, and communications infrastructure sectors to advance MIPS’ mission in Physical AI.
“The adoption of Physical AI at the edge and endpoint drives intense new requirements for computing platforms,” said Sameer Wasson, CEO of MIPS. “Now part of GlobalFoundries, MIPS can engage a global network with products tailored to specific market needs. Customers seeking open platforms optimized for their workloads will find MIPS uniquely delivers RISC-V IP at foundry scale.”
Alan Li’s Background
Alan joins MIPS from Texas Instruments, where he held roles including Area Director of North & West China, Automotive Sales Manager, and Regional Sales Manager in Beijing. He brings expertise across automotive, industrial, personal electronics, communications, and enterprise markets, and holds a Master’s degree from Xidian University.
“I am pleased to begin building MIPS’ strategic presence in China, working with integrated device manufacturers developing edge AI solutions,” said Alan Li. “Physical AI adoption in embedded computing markets requires open and modular RISC-V processor technology. The MIPS Atlas portfolio of IP, software, and tools is designed to meet these requirements.”
Scaling Physical AI with MIPS Atlas
MIPS Atlas portfolio enables scaling of Physical AI in edge platforms, providing processor IP, software, and tools. Virtual platforms allow customers to evaluate processor IP and start software/hardware co-design ahead of silicon production. The MIPS Atlas Explorer demonstrates how MIPS processor IP accelerates deeply embedded workloads and supports early software/hardware co-design.
