Mirantis, the Kubernetes-native AI infrastructure company helping enterprises build and operate scalable, secure, and sovereign AI infrastructure across any environment, has announced an extension of support for Swarm for another five years. Enterprise-grade Swarm is delivered through the Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (MKE).
Now in its fifth year of active enterprise support, Mirantis continues to invest in Swarm by enhancing usability, improving security, and expanding hybrid orchestration support. Swarm remains a central feature of MKE, allowing customers to choose between Kubernetes and Swarm orchestrators for their container workloads.
“Swarm’s simplicity and low operational overhead make it ideal for use cases that don’t require the full power of Kubernetes,” said Dominic Wilde, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Mirantis. “While Kubernetes has taken over as the world’s leading container orchestrator, Swarm remains popular, with more than 100 of our customers using it for production workloads and ongoing interest from enterprises.”
Most enterprise Swarm customers also run Kubernetes clusters with MKE, and many operate mixed clusters that combine Swarm and Kubernetes nodes. This approach offers a smooth pathway for future Kubernetes adoption while maintaining the benefits of Swarm.
Mirantis regularly conducts security validations and applies updates to address vulnerabilities. MKE utilizes encryption modules validated for FIPS 140-2 security requirements. Swarm deployments can also meet DISA STIG compliance, featuring TLS authentication, image signing, audit logging, and role-based access control (RBAC).
