Two announcements stood out in wealthtech this week, according to FinanceX Magazine. One is a major raise for tokenised cash funds, the other a push toward AI agents in client onboarding.

Spiko raises $90m Series B. The European tokenised-cash-fund issuer announced the round on October 6. It was led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA), with Index Ventures, Bpifrance, Speedinvest, Flourish Ventures, Wintermute Ventures and others joining. Angels include former Bundesbank president Axel Weber and the founders of Qonto. Total funding now stands at about $120m. Spiko says it manages $2.7bn in regulated cash funds across four currencies on multiple public blockchains, serving more than 10,000 businesses and individuals in over 25 jurisdictions. Its assets were below $400m in July 2025. The company plans to launch more funds, enter new markets and build local teams in Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and the Nordics. A Calastone survey reported on October 9 adds context: 71% of surveyed treasury respondents are evaluating or considering tokenised real-world assets, and 58% expect to put at least 25% of their portfolios into tokenised money market funds.

WealthAi launches AI onboarding agents. The London-based AI operating system for wealth managers announced the product on October 2. Its agents run client onboarding and KYC from first contact to an approved account. They collect data and documents, flag missing information, prepare forms and run identity, PEP, sanctions and account checks. Human reviewers are brought in only for decisions or sign-off. The agents coordinate work across clients, advisers, compliance and operations, and the captured data flows into the WealthAi Client File without re-entry. Claims about shorter onboarding times come from the vendor, and the first cohort’s conversion data is expected in Q1 2027.

The wider picture is cooler. FinTech Global data cited in the article projects US wealthtech deal activity to fall 15% in 2026, and European funding fell 46% quarter on quarter in Q2.
