Vellum, the enterprise AI development platform for building, testing, and deploying mission-critical AI products, has raised $20 million in Series A funding. The round was led by Leaders Fund, with participation from Socii Capital and returning investors Y Combinator, Rebel Fund, Pioneer Fund, and Eastlink Capital.

The funding will accelerate Vellum’s product innovation, support expansion into new verticals and global markets, and reinforce its role in setting the standard for enterprise AI development. Leading organizations such as Drata, Swisscom, Redfin, and Headspace use Vellum to operationalize AI—ranging from automating customer support to scaling compliance-ready workflows.

“Generative AI has captured the imagination of nearly every industry, but turning that potential into reliable, production-ready systems remains a massive challenge,” said Akash Sharma, co-founder and CEO of Vellum. “We provide the infrastructure that brings rigor, predictability, and repeatability to AI development, so teams can build with confidence and scale with clarity.”

Vellum: Building the Foundation for Reliable, Scalable GenAI

With 54% of enterprises lacking a comprehensive AI strategy and many struggling to move past prototyping, Vellum is positioned to close this gap. The platform provides cross-functional teams with a centralized control panel to orchestrate AI workflows, connecting models, tools, and business data in one place. By integrating workflow orchestration, testing, deployment, and monitoring, Vellum ensures reliable results that meet enterprise security and compliance standards.

“Most large organizations are stuck in the prototype phase, struggling to make AI reliable and repeatable,” said Gideon Hayden, co-founder and Managing Partner at Leaders Fund. “Vellum’s test-driven platform sets a new benchmark for enterprise AI, and we’re proud to back this vision.”

Key Capabilities of Vellum

  • AI workflow definition: A visual UI builder and SDK that allow technical and non-technical teams to collaborate on refining AI logic.
  • End-to-end evaluation: Comprehensive testing to catch failures and edge cases before production.
  • Safe deployments: Version-controlled updates to reduce risks in complex environments.
  • Live monitoring: Real-time observability with continuous feedback loops for ongoing improvement.

Adopted by Industry Leaders

Vellum powers AI initiatives across diverse industries. Drata, a leader in security and compliance automation, uses Vellum to run secure AI workflows across 7,000+ customer environments. Its built-in evaluation, observability, and strict data isolation help Drata deliver enterprise-grade AI automation without compromising accuracy or compliance.

“Vellum has been a force multiplier for our AI efforts; their test-driven approach helps us catch regressions early and iterate quickly,” said Lior Solomon, VP of Engineering at Drata.

Driving Global Expansion

The new funding will support Vellum’s global expansion and strengthen its go-to-market strategies. With backing from Leaders Fund and other investors, Vellum aims to help enterprises worldwide transition from AI experimentation to production-ready systems that deliver measurable business outcomes.
