Wavelynx Names Jay Lawrence as CEO to Lead Its Next Phase of Innovation and Growth

Wavelynx, a leader in open and secure access control solutions, has appointed S. Jay Lawrence as its new Chief Executive Officer. Bringing over 30 years of technology leadership experience, Mr. Lawrence steps into the role with a proven track record of scaling organizations from startup stages to billion-dollar operations.

Mr. Lawrence previously served as CEO of Equus Compute Solutions, where he oversaw major revenue growth and market expansion. His career also includes CEO roles at NexxCom Wireless and GigaBeam Corporation, where he consistently drove breakthrough innovation and delivered strong financial outcomes.

“Jay’s appointment marks an exciting milestone in Wavelynx’s evolution,” said Hugo Wendling, Founder of Wavelynx. “His deep expertise and customer-first mindset make him the ideal leader to accelerate our growth while maintaining the innovation and service excellence our customers expect. His vision aligns perfectly with our mission to modernize and simplify access control for organizations worldwide.”

Throughout his career, Mr. Lawrence has demonstrated an ability to turn emerging technologies into commercial success. His contributions include pioneering ultra-low latency networks for financial markets, advancing AI systems, enhancing edge-computing cybersecurity, and guiding technology transformations for Fortune 500 companies across multiple sectors.

“Wavelynx has built something truly special — a company that pairs cutting-edge technology with an unwavering commitment to customer success,” said Mr. Lawrence. “I’m honored to join this exceptional team. The access control industry is at a pivotal moment, and Wavelynx’s interoperable platform and innovations like the APEX reader position us to lead that transformation.”

This leadership transition comes during a period of significant momentum for Wavelynx. Recent milestones include the launch of its APEX reader, expansion into new global markets, and recognition on the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 list. Following Triton Partners’ investment in October 2023, the company has strengthened its executive team and accelerated product development to meet growing demand for flexible, modern security solutions.

“Jay’s appointment enhances our ability to serve customers, while Hugo and the executive team remain deeply engaged,” noted Dave Hansen, Chairman of the Board. “This expansion enables us to dedicate more resources to innovation and customer engagement, ensuring we continue delivering the most advanced, interoperable access control solutions in the industry.”

Rob Lydic will transition out of the business at year-end after playing a foundational role in shaping Wavelynx’s success. His expertise and leadership have been instrumental in defining the company’s culture and growth. He is collaborating closely with Mr. Lawrence to ensure a smooth transition and will remain involved as an investor.

“It’s been an incredible privilege to help build Wavelynx into the industry leader it is today,” said Robert Lydic, President of Wavelynx. “Jay brings the right experience and vision to take the company to the next level. I look forward to supporting Wavelynx as both an investor and advocate.”
